![]() ![]() In 1968 the story was adapted into a hugely popular film starring Dick Van Dyke, with a screenplay written by Roald Dahl. His first novel Casino Royale was published in 1953 and Fleming went on to write another thirteen Bond books, as well as the children's classic Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which is based on the bedtime stories he made up for his son Caspar. He won the Roald Dahl Funny Prize with Cats Ahoy!. King Jack and the Dragon, illustrated by Helen Oxenbury, was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal and was among the American Library Association's Notable Children's Books of the year.
